Over the past few week and in the coming weeks, the year 3 classes will continue to work on time (analogue and digital), fractions, data handling (tally charts, bar graphs and pie charts). We are also reinforcing that student s learn their times table, so that multiplication and division can be practiced on a regular basis. | Here are some photos of the work that is going on in some of the classrooms. |

The students are seen making times table cards so that they could use them to practice playing the snap game with their friends. thus reinforcing the times table. FractionsSome of the classes in our year group have started with fractions and the others will begin soon. In these photos the students are working on fractions by following instructions to draw a picture.
The students in Year 3 are constantly reviewing division and multiplication facts. They are also looking at patterns in the times table.
They are using manipulative to further their understanding. Here in these photos, you see students enjoying learning division and multiplication. Over last week the year three classes are learning the times tables (2,3,4,5 and 10), multiplication, mapping and coordinates.
The students are being introduced to Division using manipulative. During the past weeks, the students of year 3 are learning 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes, symmetry and tessellations. Here are some pictures of their learning and engagement in the above noted topics. During the last week, the students have been exploring 2 and 3 dimensional shapes within and outside the classrooms. They have made connections to things that they see in their environment. They were able to sort the shapes according to the properties. They are learning to identify the irregular shapes and name them.
They have also worked on patterns and symmetry and they will continue to extend their learning for this week on the same topic. During the last week, some of the classes were revising the subtraction concepts. These pictures show students using manipulatives to find solutions to the subtraction sums.
In the past two weeks the students have been introduced to subtraction, multiplications and rounding numbers to the nearest 10s and 100s. The students are also working on times table recall of 2X, 3X,4x, 5x and 10x. Three Way Conference information morning this coming Tuesday 8th December from 8am to 9am in the Meeting Room on the 1st Floor.
We are hosting the Three Way Conferences on Tuesday 15th December. This week the students have continued with the topic on Measurements. They have used non-standard units and learning to use the various standard units of measurements to measure an object, length, distance and the perimeter.
