I attained a BA (Hons) + QTS teaching degree at the University of Central England and started my teaching career in Birmingham. I then moved back to my home town of Salisbury and continued working in a primary school in Southampton. Finally I moved to the UAE to embark on an International teaching experience. My career stretches across 15 years, I believe in nurturing open-minded, independent, life-long learners. I strive to create learning experiences that challenge children's thinking and encourage them to expand their own learning. Asking questions and having fun are also key to a happy student. I am very much looking forward to learning and teaching with your children this year. Parents are always welcome or drop me an email. |

gemma smithMy Name is Gemma Smith I have been teaching at Rak Academy for 5 years. I come from London, England, Where I completed my Undergraduate Degree with a Bachelor of Arts.
After my Undergraduate Degree I undertook further studies and completed a PGCE in Education. I am keen to encourage parental involvement and encourage parents to be active in their children’s education. Emailing and the student diaries are an excellent way to keep in contact with me, as I check them both regularly. I am ecstatic to have such a wonderful class and my goal as their teacher is to create a warm, inviting and safe learning environment, where your children are given the opportunities to achieve their full potential. lee beckett
Hi, my name is Leonore Beckett, better known as Lee to colleagues and Miss Lee to students. This is my 6th year at RAK Academy. Previously, I worked in Doha, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Prior to that, I taught in Cape Town, South Africa for more years than I care to remember. I still call Cape Town home and enjoy going back every year to see family and friends. My favourite moments in teaching are, when you see a child has grasped something he or she has been struggling with - their eyes light up! Magic moments.

My name is Miss Becky and I’ve had the pleasure of teaching at RAK Academy for the last 3 years. I come from Wales in the U.K, where I completed my teaching degree. I worked in 3 schools in Wales for 10 years before deciding to leave and explore the world! In 2007, I moved to Qatar to work at an international school. I found working with children from many different countries very rewarding and stayed at the school for 5 years. This is my 4th year at RAK Academy and I find the students here are polite and eager to learn.
I consider myself an organized, hard-working, and self-motivated teacher who encourages exploration, discovery, and creative experiences in my classroom and around the school. I strive to inspire a life -long love for learning! I am continuing to develop the Student Council this year by encouraging student leadership and building links with the community of RAK. |
