Mariam rawatMy name is Mariam Rawat and I am a Class Teacher and Year 2 Leader at RAK Academy PYP. Having graduated with a Bachelor of Education from The University of Derby in England, I taught in numerous schools including the same primary school where I was once a student! I have now been at RAKA for the last 10 years and have been lucky to have worked across various year groups with some truly inspirational colleagues. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, relaxing on the beach, trying out foods from different countries and exploring different parts of the world.
My grandfather led his life with a particular proverb very close to his heart ‘You can give a man some food and feed him for a day or you can equip him with the tools to farm and feed him and his family for generations.’ I hold this philosophy close to my heart and it is with this principle that I work with my children to encourage, inspire and instill a love for learning in them, to allow them to achieve things beyond their imagination. I am committed in providing them, with the best possible tools that will have a positive impact on their lives long after they have left my classroom. Jishe matthewMy name is Jishe Susan Mathew. I earned my Master’s degree in Human resource management from a University in India. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Science and BEd in Science and English.
My first Full time teaching job was in India and I taught Grade 1 and 2 for 7 years. Before that I worked as a facilitator for Personality Development workshops for Grade 5 and above. Later I worked in a British Curriculum school for three and a half years. Finally I joined this prestigious institution in 2011 and that was my first step in teaching in a PYP school, which I love to do now. I have always enjoyed working with primary students and would be happy to inspire them to be a thinker and an inquirer. I try to be open – minded and am very eager to learn new things that will improve my teaching and develop me professionally and personally. I build a good rapport with my students and try to build their self-esteem so that they can find their strengths and be a better person by being caring and principled. Some people have believed in me and helped me and I would like to pay it forward. Martin Luther King Jr. said “I have a dream”. I too, have a dream to make a difference. |
