claire callaghanI come from the deep south of the Southern Hemisphere (Christchurch, New Zealand) and am currently beginning my 10th year of teaching. After graduating from Canterbury University’s Teachers College, I spent a few years teaching in my hometown before embarking on my OE to London, where I also taught for two years. In 2011, I moved to Ras Al Khaimah where I spent two years teaching in the British Curriculum School. From there, I took a short walk across the road and started at the Rak Academy PYP School where you will now find me in Year 4. I love teaching and firmly believe that learning should be fun for both the students and the teachers.
sally donnellyMy name is Sally Donnelly and I am from County Meath in Ireland. This is my first year teaching in RAK academy but my second year in RAK . I am currently teaching Year 4D. I graduated with a 2:1 Bachelor of Education from Saint Patrick’s College of Education in Dublin in 2012. After graduating, I taught for a year in RAK in another school. I then moved to South West Scotland to the coastal town of Stranraer, where I taught a Year 3 and 4 class for a year and completed my NQT year. I loved living in RAK, which is why I decided to venture back this year. I’m very excited about the year ahead.

jane ndunguTania patelI have been in Education for the last 17 years and have been teaching at RAK Academy now for the last 5 years.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northumbria University, UK and a Post graduate teaching certificate from Sunderland University UK. Working in the UAE has been a truly enriching and exciting journey for me, experiencing new customs, culture and traditions of this wonderful country. I am very excited to be a part of the teaching team at RAK Academy and my drive is to positively inspire all of my students to love learning! My name is Jane Ndungu and I am passionate about working with young children. Based on my belief that children are at the centre of learning, I am continually seeking to learn approaches that will support their growth and development. I consider my role as one of helping students reach their highest potential because I believe each child is born with capabilities. I try to ensure that my classroom makes students feel safe and comfortable enough to share their thoughts and ideas, and this allows them to learn from each other. I set high expectations for my students and encourage them to take responsibility over their own learning. I too regard myself accountable to them.
I have previously taught Maths in Grades 7, 8 and 9 for a couple of years in Kenya. Before joining RAK Academy I also taught in a PYP School for 6 years. |
