susan pASULA
Susan is from Canada and has been teaching at RAK Academy since 2007. She has experience teaching in public, private, and international schools in Canada, Angola, and the UAE. Susan holds a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Bachelor of Arts Degree and is keen to continue working with the students and staff of RAK Academy to promote excellence in learning.
I am a South African, Junior Primary Educator. In South Africa I have taught KG 2, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 children from the age of 4 through to 9 years old. I also successfully started and ran a Private Pre-school at Woodridge Preparatory School which is situated in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. As an International teacher, I have lived in Auckland New-Zealand and in the Middle East. I taught Year 3 students at Fujairah Private Academy before I moved to RAK Academy where for the past 7 years I have taught Year 2 and currently Year 1 in the Primary Years Programme. As a facilitator I am passionate about guiding children to a deeper understanding through the inquiry cycle by accommodating the different ways in which children learn. As a creative person, my main objective is always to actively and purposefully engage students in their own learning. To quote Derek Pinchbeck: "How to get students to think, play, act and create with what they know?" in mind.
Hanna luong
My name is Hanna Luong and I am from Canada. I am so pleased to be joining the RAK Academy team this year. I have been teaching for 5 years. Three of which were in South Korea where I taught mainly ESL students and the other two years were in Kuwait, teaching at an IB World School. After my experience in Korea, I realized teaching and travelling was my passion and therefore, I decided to go back to school and pursue a Bachelor’s of Education at Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario. My educational background and teaching experience have given me a strong foundation from which to build my teaching career upon. The fundamental values and beliefs that are at the forefront of importance to me, and that are exemplified through my teaching are: providing students with a safe and inclusive learning environment where they can feel comfortable and confident, developing a positive relationship with students, and professional development through learning from other teachers, self-reflection, and attending workshops. It has been such a pleasure to be here and I look forward to being a part of your child’s academic and social journey and in working with you to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people.
