stephen murphyMy name is Stephen Murphy and I'm the Year leader of year 5 in the PYP school. I am a proud Canadian and have lived in many places in Canada, but before coming to the UAE, I was a resident of Toronto, Ontario. I am going on my 5th year in the UAE and have worked in Al Ain before coming to RAK 3 years ago. I did my undergraduate degree in Canada with a major in History and my master's degree in teacher in Queensland Australia. I have been teaching for 8 years and enjoy my job very much. I have had an opportunity to travel to over 20 countries and feel that my travels have allowed me to become a better teacher. I am really looking forward to an amazing and exciting year in 5E.

val hartMy name is Mrs Val Hart. I have been teaching at RAK Academy for 4 years now in Year 6, as Phase Leader and now in Year 5. I was born in the North of England in a place called Preston which is near the beaches and the mountains – a bit like here but much colder and greener! I studied at Warwick University and began teaching in Secondary School but missed Primary so returned to my passion. I was a deputy head in England but as my husband and I love travelling we took a 16 month trip around the USA, Canada and Mexico in a huge motorhome and travel as often as we can. Then we came here as we enjoyed being away from the UK! However we do miss our families and I have recently become a grandmother to a little girl called Harriet. We went to Southern Africa and went on Safari which was out of this world. I adore cats and have had 21 in my life including 12 at one time!
casey jamesMy name is Casey James. I am from Vancouver, Canada. Since entering the teaching profession, I am now in my sixth year. Four of those years were spent in Vancouver teaching Year 4-6. This is now my second year at RAK Academy teaching Year 5 and my first international teaching experience. Some of my hobbies include playing soccer, hiking, and swimming. I am enjoying the experience in the UAE very much!

larry baxterI have been teaching in the UAE since September 2006. Two years of which were in Fujairah. I am from South Africa where I gained experience in working with second language speakers as well as mother tongue speakers. I have also taught in New Zealand.
I enjoy reading and writing and listening to music and audio books. dene ramsdenMy name is Dene Ramsden and I'm the new teacher for 5F in the PYP school. I was born in Yorkshire, England and taught for 11 years in London as a Physical Education teacher, Head of Physical Education and as Head of Year.
I relocated to Sydney Australia and worked for 4 years at The Scots College, one of the top boy's private schools in Australia, in both secondary and the primary school. I did my undergraduate degree in the UK with a major in Physical Education and a minor in Business Studies and recently a Master Of Education, Leadership and Management at the University of Sydney. I have been teaching for 15 years and feel my experience in both the UK and Australia will help build on the excellent work already in place at The RAK Academy and I'm looking forward to developing an engaging and challenging environment where 5F can flourish as learners. |
