Aleksandra grbic-hrusticAleksandra started music education at age six, formally studying music for the next 16 years and enjoying it every step of the way.
She has completed a Bachelor of Music specialising in Methodology of Teaching Music Culture and Solfeggio (singing, ear training and notation), as well as Master of Educational Management. Being a life-long learner, she has participated in many musical and educational workshops and trainings, studying Kodaly Music Pedagogy in Hungary, Orff Music Pedagogy in Austria, T.E.Y.L. and Reggio Approach in Thailand, Show Choir in Serbia, and IB PYP Programme in the U.A.E., just to name a few. Aleksandra is an excellent singer, choir conductor, composer, pianist and open-minded musician who is also able to play the guitar, recorder, accordion, harmonica and ukulele. She composed various music for theatre plays and many original songs for children, recorded several CDs as a singer and produced numerous concerts and music shows for theatres and TV stations, established and led several choirs. Two songwriting honorary awards were given to her, and her students won Children’s National Composing Award as well as National Children’s Singing competition in Serbia. This is her 19th year of teaching music and 3rd in the RAK Academy’s PYP school. She strongly believes that teaching internationalism and applying inquiry approach can bring the best in students. She strives for the great achievements and hopes to take her students on a fantastic musical adventure, encouraging them and inspiring the love for active music-making. |
siobhan greeneSiobhan comes from County Cork in Ireland. She graduated in 2012 with a BA in Irish Music and Dance from the University of Limerick. Siobhan has been teaching music in Ras Al Khaimah for the past 3 years. She spent 2 years teaching from year 1 to year 7 in Chouiefat before joining RAK Academy in 2014 where she is teaching music to Prek, KG1, KG2 and Year 1 students. Before coming to the UAE Siobhan taught Irish dancing with Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann in her local town. She has been Irish dancing and performing both nationally and internationally since the age of 4. Siobhan has been playing the tin whistle since a very young age and she started playing the saxophone at 13. Although her main love is dance Siobhan enjoys teaching her students singing, along with different instruments and movement. Siobhan loves to see their enthusiastic faces as they enter the music room and she hopes to fill them with even more enthusiasm and a great love of music.

MARIA YATESMaria comes from Karnataka in South India, she holds a BBA degree and a diploma in Software engineering. She has finished her Trinity Collage of London Music practical exams in Piano. Maria plays many different instruments such as the Guitar, Piano, Keyboard, Recorder, Trumpet and Jazz Drums.
Maria has been teaching music in the UAE for the past 7 years. She spent 3 years teaching in Gems in Dubai, one of which she was the music coordinator and also trained students to sing the UAE national anthem on the Dubai One Radio. Maria has personally won awards in Voice and Instrument Competitions Current school choir were selected to lead National Day Celebrations on Dubai One Radio 2. The Winchester Junior Choir, after successful audition,were invited to participate in the Children’s Day Celebrations at the American University Dubai (2010) Maria as "Head of Music" led her department through two successful KHDA Inspections. Involved with leading school assemblies and performances for a primary school with over 2000 children on roll. Experience of teaching all ages from Early Years to Grade Six. Maria joined RAK Academy in 2011 and has been teaching music here ever since. |
