On the 26th of November, 2015, RAK Academy celebrated the UAE National Day with plenty of colourful festivities. We in KG 1 were all geared up to be part of the celebrations too. Our parents have been so generous with donating decorations to deck the school halls, classes and also the play ground. The families also brought in food to share with the others in the class. We started off the celebrations in KG 1with a joint parade with PreK in the play ground. Following this, we returned to classes for the party/picnic. Each KG1 class then hosted a selection of outdoor activities where the children could participate in and have lots of fun too.

The pictures showed greater detail in drawing, improved fine-motor skills and increased vocabulary as the children described who was in their family and how their families cared for them.
In the week beginning 21/11/2015, we will begin a new Unit under the Transdisciplinary Theme "How We Organize Ourselves" and the Central Idea "There are people with different roles who help us every day." We would like to invite parents who are interested in sharing about their profession to the KG 1 children for a better understanding of how different people in our community help us. If interested, please contact or speak to your child's class teacher. A convenient date and time will be arranged for you to come in and share your expertise with the little children. We are also planning to set up specific role-play areas that will cater to different community professions. If you wish to contribute some resources to add to the class role-play area please communicate with the class teacher who will give you an idea of resources needed to add to the class. In Language, we are continuing to revisit the letter sounds 's' 'a' 't' 'i' 'p' 'n' through a variety of games and activities. In Maths, we continued with counting objects and recognizing numbers in the environment. Thank you to all the families who joined us in celebrating Family Day at RAK Academy PYP school. We celebrated Flag day on November 3rd, some photos of which are in this section of the Blog. Our Assembly focus was all about the letter sound 'p'. we sang The Penguin Song, watched how to make pizza and read the story of The Runaway Pizza. On Thursday, we concluded with a Pyjama Party.
